Powering Indonesia's Growth
October 2026
Powering Indonesia’s Growth, a new report prepared by Institute of Essential Services Reform (IESR), Institute for Development Economics and Finance – Green Transition Initiative (INDEF-GTI), the Energy Transitions Commission (ETC), and Systemiq, in strategic collaboration with the Indonesian Independent Power Producers Association (APLSI), examines how higher electrification combined with a more renewable electricity supply could strengthen Indonesia’s economic growth prospects.
The report assesses how electricity demand could evolve as Indonesia’s economy grows and electrifies, the opportunity to scale solar at lower cost, how a more renewable power system could meet higher demand, and the wider implications for economic growth, energy security, affordability and competitiveness.
